123 Swimming Lessons Founder, Curtis Knight

curtHey everyone! My name is Curtis Knight and I am a swimming instructor born in New South Wales, Australia.
As a child growing up in the beach life I probably had the biggest pool you could have, so learning how to swim was really not an option. We have to know.
While living and going to school in Australia, we have many programs that teach you as a young child how to be a lifeguard. Not in the pools, but in the ocean. I entered and won two Iron Man competitions and also competitive swimming in and outside of school.

So anyway when my family and I moved to the United States to live around my fathers side of the family, I kept a competitive attitude and played many different sports. I recon I was quite good in all of them, I have to have some pride about it. LOL. Swimming did stand out the most.

So I used that experience I had at an early age to teach others how to swim. I got Red Cross Lifeguard and CPR certified and began instructing swimming lessons for children and adults of all ages in my first year of college. It felt so natural to me that it became second nature.

I’ve always loved working with children over dealing with some adults. Try it you will see what I mean. To me kids keep you sane, and they know so much.

Father Teaching Son Swimming LessonsAnyway with that being said a few years later I opened up a swim school in Sacramento California with a partner of mine. We were going strong with all the swim programs that we ran throughout the summer time.

During all that is where I experienced what I labeled as EVERY CHILD CAN SWIM. Being able to teach and be around these children a lot was enabling me to see the progression in there swimming. I found that no matter how scared, cold, disabled, bratty the child was or how much they cried, with repetition in the right program they WILL and I’ll say it again, WILL learn to swim.

There is no excuses, if a child is having fun and you make them do what they are suppose to do then bob’s your uncle mate you’ve got a swimmer. I’ve seen swimming lessons be everything to a child. He couldn’t wait to get in, hated getting out and never really wanted to stay dry. Funny but true.

Now parents I have to tell you weather you like it or not with what I have done, swimming is the best source of exercise you probably could have. Reason being is it works every single muscle in your body. Including your lungs on a different level. What exercise do you know that does that mate?

Comment and let me know. I’ve played a lot of sports and swimming has been the best for me. Put it like this, if you can learn to swim 5 miles, which is 8 kilometers then you will be able to run double that no problem.

That’s why children are over weight, their not even having fun in the sun. I say let your kids learn how to swim. Forget the price. I also do have a young child he started swimming lessons with me at 3 months old. Call me crazy but my son’s not drowning on my watch. Dr’s say you can’t put sun screen on your child till 4 months so I went in doors.

The sum up for me is if I’m not in the Olympics swimming, then I will love teaching it to people just as much mate.
